Check out Daruvu Review to see whether this film has put an end to Ravi Teja's flop streak or not.

Cast: Ravi Teja, Tapsee, Sushanth Singh, Brahmanandam and others

Written by: Souryam Siva, Aadi Narayana

Music: Vijay Anthony

Cinematography: Vetrivel

Story:

A petty thief Bullet Raja (Ravi Teja) falls in love with classical dancer Swetha (Tapsee) at first sight. Their love blossoms with in no time and here comes Harbor Babu (Sushanth Singh) who sketches a plan to eliminate Bullet Raja only to marry Swetha. One day, Bullet Raja dies in a bomb blast and then the story proceeds onto Yamalokam (hell). There, Bullet Raja proves to Yamayamadharma Raja (Prabhu) that his killing was unethical and he was intentionally brought to the hell. And in a fit to correct the mistake, Yamadharma Raja asks Bullet Raja to enter into Minister Ravindra's (Ravi Teja) soul as the former's body was burnt. What happens next? And how Bullet Raja settle his scores with Harbor Babu, whether he marry Swetha or not forms the rest of the story.

Analysis:

The first half of the film is entertaining with hilarious comedy episodes between Brahmanandam, Ravi Teja and Vennela Kishore. The love thread between Tapsee and Ravi Teja is not appealing and the director could have focused better on this aspect. The story catches the momentum from the pre interval scene and the interval part is convincing.

The second half is refreshing and is the soul to the movie. Director Siva has chosen a plot and conveyed the social message with conviction. He should be appreciated for making a socio fantasy film with clean entertainment backed with social issues. Few scenes need an applause and are heart touching. The songs 'Nijam Cheppu' and 'Athili Chirabara' have been shot well. The entire second half connects well with the audience and the director has balanced it well with sentiment between Jayasudha - Ravi Teja and adequate entertainment between the goons and the protagonist. Raghu Babu is hilarious as Pavithrananda Swamiji and the way he renders 'Dhinka Chika' song evokes laughter from the audience. There are lot of aspects that make you feel laugh, cry and think for a while in 'Daruvu'. However, the climax episode could have been handled better as it drags for a while. Overall, Ravi Teja has scored a winner with 'Daruvu' and the range of the movie depends on how the family audience embraces it.

TeluguOne Perspective:

Ravi Teja has tried something new with 'Daruvu' and the credit should be given to the director Siva for handling it with ease. The narration, screenplay and execution is fantastic and the director being a cinematographer has shot each frame in a grand way. Ravi Teja excelled in both the roles as Bullet Raja and Home Minister Ravindra. What happens when a sarcastic petty thief enters into the soul of a Home Minister? This is where the director should take care and apparently, Siva has depicted it well with convincing narration. There are no traces of a socio fantasy film bombing at box office and with 'Daruvu' the saga continues again.

Performances:

Ravi Teja carried the movie on his shoulders and his energy levels are incredible. He excelled in all the scenes he was present and his dances, dialogue delivery and ease in fights is fantastic. Tapsee has nothing much to do in Daruvu as she is hardly confined to couple of scenes and songs. Brahmanandam, with his mannerisms and funny dances moments as dance master Vidya Balan is refreshing. Sayaji Shinde, Sushanth Singh played their part well as baddies. Jayasudha has once again delivered a brilliant performance as a dotted mother and she is one of the assets of Daruvu. Satyanarayana, Prabhu and MS Narayana are decent in their pivotal roles.

Technicalities:

Cinematography by Vetri is excellent and music, background score by Vijay Anthony is super. The songs 'Nijam Cheppu' and 'Athili Chirabara' stands out as winners in the list. Dialogues are catchy and meaningful. Editing by Gautam Raju is good. Direction by Siva is top notch. Production values of Sri Venkateswara Entertainments are grand.

Positives:

Ravi Teja and Jayasudha's performance

Songs

Tapsee glamour

Negatives:

Slow first half

Climax

'Ho Gaya Publicity' - This single moment of outburst by a don-on-the-downfall (Vijay Raaz) raises good enough chuckle during DEPARTMENT which otherwise hunts for such relief in an over two hour long affair that has an action sequence practically in every 10 minutes. That by the way is a tad too long to digest since one expects a dramatic outing from Ram Gopal Varma instead of a film which only has one action sequence after another.

As for the 'Ho Gaya Publicity' stunt, it is a gem indeed from Vijay Raaz as he reprimands his small time gang members (Abhimanyu Singh, Madhu Shalini) from being overzealous in their approach to take on encounter cops (Sanjay Dutt, Rana Daggubati) who only end up raising further heat on them. The reason why Raaz is not-so-supportive of Abhimanyu-Madhu's misadventures is hinted towards the dying moments of the film (a good story angle, which sadly hasn't quite been nurtured to the fullest) but by then DEPARTMENT turns out to be an extended action affair that could have done with more such one liners and drama.

What is interesting though is the character played by Amitabh Bachchan who never even aims at being menacing and while he neither borders on being the 'Babban' of RGV KI AAG nor the 'Subhash Nagre' of SARKAR, it is his mind games which one does remembers after DEPARTMENT is through. The problem though again lies in the exploitation of this episode as is the case with some genuine twists that are left only at the surface without being churned out to the fullest. There are at least a couple of superb turns that the film takes, both in the first and the second half of the film, but surprisingly Ramu adds such mundane scenes immediately after them that ends up diluting the impact that had just been created.

However the film goes for a toss in the second half as it shifts towards Abhimanyu and Madhu. In particular, the chief culprit here is Abhimanyu who makes one wonder whether he is the same guy who came tops in GULAAL, RAKHT CHARITRA or that menacing cop in 'I Am'. In 'Department', he only ends up being a gangster spoof that just doesn't work. Another spoof is the very item number featuring Nathalia Kaur. Yes, Sanjay introduces it well as the item number it is supposed to be but if the journey around Nathalia's thighs and crotch was the idea behind it then well, a porn clip could have just done the trick.
view DEPARTMENT stills
What works though is Rana Daggubati who stands out as the central protagonist of the film. Convincing and boasting of a good screen presence, Rana shows yet again that he could be the man for the job if put into a dramatic/action genre. On the other hand Sanjay Dutt looks disinterested and if one has to compare this with his last few movies then well, he seemed to have had much more fun even in RASCALS, leave aside AGNEEPATH. Anjana Sukhani, after being short-changed in her earlier multi-starrers like GOLMAAL 3, SALAAM-E-ISHQ, actually finds herself a part of the film from start to finish and does rather well.

Technically speaking though, one has to give it to Ram Gopal Varma for not just attempting but going all out in making sure that not even a single frame of DEPARTMENT belongs to 'seen-that-done-before' style. However that turns to be bane rather than boon because it is this very technology that consumes him in his storytelling. The camera angles are definitely innovative but instead of being an experimentation towards the narrative, they turn out to be the very narrative that only ends up killing that impact that could have been created.

While Ramu must have thought that it would be a good enough reason for majority to check out DEPARTMENT, it only threatens to be a definite put off for most. Add to that a pencil thin storyline on which it bases itself and there is a ticking bomb that ends up exploding on the face of everyone involved.

Ishaqzaade Hindi Movie 2012 Review:
Habib Faisal's directorial debut DO DOONI CHAAR, starring Rishi Kapoor and Neetu Kapoor, depicted the aspirations of a middle-class family. It won immense critical acclaim, appreciation of the viewers and the Best Hindi Film National Award. Now his second film ISHAQZAADE has generated tremendous buzz thanks to its raw and edgy trailers, likable music and also for its setting -- the Hindi belt where guns still reign supreme. And you aren't disappointed either, for the film meets the lofty expectations, assuring you that the 2+ hours were well worth it!

Yash Raj Films returns to the era of action after a hiatus, but they have not done away with their core USP, romance, as ISHAQZAADE is a passionate love story, which is the emphasizing theme of the film. In fact, ISHAQZAADE is not only about aggression and romance, you also get a glimpse of the arrogance and conceit of people in small towns in India.

The story unfurls in the idealistic and intimidating scenario of North India. ISHAQZAADE depicts the love story of two defiant, rebellious individuals. A passionate love story ignited by extreme dislike. It revolves around two disputing political families, two fiery individuals and their battle for control and superiority. The two characters, Parma [Arjun Kapoor] and Zoya [Parineeti Chopra], who have been told since early days to detest each other, are almost equipped to eradicate each other and then something happens in their life post which they realize they are actually quite alike. They start wondering when we both are so similar in our personality and stance, why have we got this extreme dislike for each other?

In such a setting, when two people, who have been loathing each other all this while, fall in love, things go askew.

The chemistry between Arjun Kapoor and Parineeti Chopra on screen certainly follows the model of the chemistry that was created in DILWALE DULHANIA LE JAYENGE, BUNTY AUR BABLI and BAND BAAJA BAARAAT. It's infectious and that, in my opinion, is the hallmark of the film, besides the script of course. In the initial portions, both Arjun and Parineeti are at loggerheads, bartering cusswords, flaunting guns and trying to be one-up on the other. Their love story towards the middle of the first part is equally electrifying and the portrayal by Arjun and Parineeti gives the film the required sheen.

The post-interval portions have several euphoric moments. The heated conversation involving Arjun's mother and the aftermath is brilliantly penned and executed. Ditto for the sequence when Arjun apologises to Parineeti in this hour. It's truly emotional! The only hitch is that the film slows down before it reaches the finale thanks to some unwanted sequences [the sequence in the laboratory] and some songs in this hour. The culmination to the film is a highpoint and mirrors a reality as well.

Habib Faisal belongs to a fresh class of writers and film-makers who does away with the beaten to death drama that one gets to watch in films of this genre. Filmed at actual locations of Uttar Pradesh, the story of ISHAQZAADE has universal appeal and could have been set in any of the big cities, but the small town milieu lends the plot a kind of passion missing in large metros. Perhaps, the magnetism towards love is that much stronger in a small town, also the conflict of the people opposing love is manifold stronger likewise.

Amit Trivedi, one of the most gifted and skilled musical talents, comes up with a harmonious and pleasant-sounding album. 'Ishaqzaade', 'Pareshan', 'Aafton Ke Parinde and 'Chokra Jawan' -- each of those tracks are popular already. The best part is, the songs of ISHAQZAADE have not been filmed on romantic landscapes, but at humdrum locations, which makes it so real and very much in sync with the mood of the film. I'd like to make a special mention of the cinematography [Hemant Chaturvedi], which captures the essence of North India and the rustic flavor so well. The background score [Ranjit Barot] adds a lot of pep, while the action and chase sequences [Sham Kaushal] are wonderful.

Arjun Kapoor makes a fantastic debut. He has a peerless body language and a 'I-don't-give-a-damn' kind of an approach in the movie. The youngster, with his untidy look and impish smile, has already won female reverence prior to the release of the film and after having watched him emote, you can confidently say that he's blessed to depict this rebellious character in his launch vehicle itself. He comes across as fiery and rustic and at the same time self-assured and assertive in this reckless and intrepid character.

To acquire a film of this scale and magnitude is a triumph by itself for a beginner, for a script and character like this happen once in a while. Parineeti Chopra is simply fantastic in this high-voltage drama. Playing the part of a spirited gun-toting girl, she is not the regular timid, decorous, withdrawn Hindi film heroine. She portrays the violent behavior coupled with the audacious and brash attitude with aplomb.

Gauhar Khan is lovely in a special role. Also, she dances very well in the two tracks. Anil Rastogi [as Arjun's grand-father], Natasha Rastogi [as Arjun's mother] and Ratan Rathore [as Parineeti's father] are natural to the core.

On the whole, ISHAQZAADE, a volatile and intense story with ample doses of fanatical romance, should appeal to a pan-India audience. This broadly engaging love story has a winsome pair who deliver dexterous performances, besides popular music and several poignant moments, which should appeal to fans of mainstream films. Go for it!

Gabbar Singh Telugu Online Movie Review 2012:
Gabbar Singh Movie Review: Excellent remake

Director Harish Shankar shot to fame with his film Mirapakay with Ravi Teja as hero. Now, Pawan Kalyan had chosen him for the remake of Salman Khan's Dabangg. He asked the director to rewrite the entire script to suit the Telugu nativity with good humour by retaining the main theme. As a whole, the film has become a visual treat to the audience in general and Pawan fans in particular.

Story: Naidu (Nagineedu) marries a girl (Suhasini) who already has a son named Venkataratnam Naidu (Pawan Kalyan). Venkata likes the character of Gabbar Singh (Sholay) and is fond of being called a Gabbar Singh. He becomes a daring and dashing police officer. He is posted to his hometown Kondaveedu, which is facing many troubles from Siddhappa Naidu (Abhimanyu Singh), who is just a goon and political leader.

While Gabbar Singh starts confronting Siddhappa, he comes across Bhagyalakshmi (Shruti Hassan) and loses his heart to her. Later, things get murky as several emotions come to the fore like jealousy, hatred and greed. Will Gabbar Singh crush the atrocities with an iron hand being a police officer? What happens to Gabbar Singh's love? What price does Gabbar Singh pay in his rivalry with Siddhappa? Answers to all these questions lies in the rest of story.

Performance: Pawan Kalyan has given an extraordinary performance. His comedy timing is perfect. He has delivered several punch dialogues with his inimitable mannerism. He is good in both action and dance sequences. Shruti Hassan looks gorgeous in the film. Her performance as an innocent village belle is excellent. Though she has a very small role to play, she has used the available space to show her acting prowess.

Ali, Brahmanandam and Ranjit Kumar tickle the funny bones of audiences. Combination scenes of Ali and Pawan Kalyan have been shot well. Other artistes like Suhasini, Nagineedu, Rao Ramesh, Abhimanyu Singh have done justice to their respective roles. Gayatri (Happy Days fame) has played a different role in this film and will definitely score many points. The director has failed to make use of Kota’s acting abilities.

Technical: Devi Sri Prasad has not only scored extraordinary tunes for the film but also has given fantastic background score. All songs have been shot well and are a visual feast to the audiences.

Jayanan Vincent's cinematography is perfect and Gauthamraju's editing is apt. Director Harish Shankar has penned a perfect script, screenplay and direction to the entire film. Though the narration of the film in the second half appears to be slow, the director some how manages to take the film forward without any boring scenes. Another minus point is, the director could not keep the necessary emotional depth while reaching climax.

Verdict: Undoubtedly Pawan Kalyan fans will enjoy the film as he delights his fans with comedy and punchy dialogues. Moreover, many of the action scenes would attract the front benchers. The film would definitely go well with ‘B’ and ‘C’ centres. The film would definitely fill the coffers of the producer.

Cast: Pawan Kalyan, Shruti Hassan, Tanikella Bharani, Abhimanyu Singh, Rao Ramesh, Ajay, Kota Srinivasa Rao, Brahmanandam, Ali, Nagineedu, Suhasini, Gayatri (Happy Days fame), Malaika Arora and others.

Credits: Music – Devisri Prasad; Camera – Jayanan Vincent; Editing – Gautham Raju; Action – Ram-Laxman; Art – Brahma Kadali; Presents – Sivababu Bandla; Producer – Bandla Ganesh; Screenplay and direction – Harish Shankar

If life was so simple and understanding problems of your present life meant sleeping on a reclining couch under the guidance of a doctor who quotes from a book about past life, all problems would have been solved. But then life is not so simple and just blaming the issues on what is happening in the 'here and now' on the 'there and then' is being an escapist. This is what exactly happens to Sanjana (Karisma Kapoor) after her boyfriend Rohan (Rajneesh Duggal) is kidnapped from their beach house.

Sanjana suddenly starts seeing things and her friend terms it as hallucination. But the friend realizes that Sanjana is telling the truth when she reads Urdu, something she has never learnt. Perhaps she knew it in her past life suggests her friend and takes her to a doctor of another kind.

CHECK OUT: DANGEROUS ISHHQ Music Review

Here, the doctor tells her she can take her to her past life and in a jiffy has her reclining on a couch. She mouths some sentences, tells her she will see a bright light near her forehead, which will illuminate and then she will enter a lift which will descend and she will see where she came from. Voila! That's exactly what happens. Sanjana is in Pakistan and the year is 1947. From Here Sanjana, gets clues as to who could be behind the kidnapping. During the course of the movie, we also learn that Sanjana and Rohan have been romancing since the 1500s and they never got married as someone else interested in Sanjana was always tearing them apart. That someone is a person close to them and though Sanjana and Rohan look the same, the other man comes in different guises. So will they marry in this life, in 2012? That is what DANGEROUS ISHHQ is all about.

The movie begins with a whimper, gets into thriller zone after 20 minutes and then meanders along with one past life after another which makes it more a costume drama than a thriller.

download DANGEROUS ISHHQ wallpapers
Vikram Bhatt's obsession with past life falls flat as he tries to grab thin air. If the person behind the camera is not really convinced about past life, how will he convince his audience? All you see is child-like fantasy. I'd say a lot of money has been invested in a 3D movie on a topic which turns into comedy mid-way.

CHECK OUT: Vikram Bhatt - When Karisma does a film, it has to be special

Karisma Kapoor making a comeback after her marriage is good in patches. Initially, she is a little clueless with no energy neither in her body language nor in her dialogue delivery. Rajneish Duggal is put in different costumes in different eras. It is only Jimmy Sheirgill who brings in that much-needed intensity that gives this film some sort of respectability.

If you are looking exclusively for some 3D visual entertainment, go for it.

Jannat 2 Hindi Movie Review 2012:
The Bhatts have the utmost number of films which have developed into a victorious franchise. MURDER 2 has hit the bull's eye, JANNAT 2 opens this Friday, while RAAZ 3 and AASHIQUI 2 arrive later this year. So what does a film franchise precisely connote? It symbolizes a series of films wherein the title and certain constituents of a movie remain the same, but the story alters in every installment. JANNAT was about a man's pursuit for heaven, the gluttony to attain the extravagance in life as hastily as possible. But there's a disparity between the two motion pictures. JANNAT explored the dark side of the cricketing world, while JANNAT 2 underlines arms trafficking.

Arms trafficking, also known as gunrunning, is the unlawful trading or smuggling of contraband weapons or ammunition. We have witnessed a number of films on drug trafficking and human trafficking, but arms trafficking has a far more deadly effect on humankind. JANNAT 2 is an unsettling motion picture that exposes the arms trade in the capital. Illegal arms are sold and bought with effortless ease and this film throws light on how the ammunition reaches the hands of the common man. The unlawful weapon trade is a flourishing business that JANNAT 2 enlightens you about. For the first time, I guess, a Hindi movie explores the precarious issue, with a stimulating romance elegantly interlaced in the narrative.

Much like Bhatts' past endeavors that borrow from factual life, JANNAT 2 is a well-explored theme. Thematically, there is a traceable semblance with the Nicolas Cage starrer LORD OF WAR, which was about international arms trading. Conversely, JANNAT 2 is very desi at heart and strives to shed light on the illicit weapons trade in North India. JANNAT 2 is a compelling account of a conflicted man who ultimately faces the effects of his deeds. The movie advocates that firearms and cartridges are the actual perpetrators accountable for the fatalities and killings of blameless people. JANNAT 2 is ingeniously fashioned and skillfully filmed, while the characters are pertinent and compelling.

Sonu [Emraan Hashmi] is a smooth-talking street-smart gunrunner, who has the gift of the gab and knows his trade inside out. ACP Pratap [Randeep Hooda] is a hardened maverick cop, who has a personal vendetta against the gun nexus. He will go to any lengths to crack down this nexus and he handpicks Sonu to do this job, as he is the perfect candidate to enter this racket undercover and expose everybody involved in the unlawful weapon trade.

Sonu falls in love with a young doctor Jhanvi [Esha Gupta] along his journey and that throws his life's course into a tailspin with unforeseen and far-reaching consequences for all three of them.

Emraan is not merely the protagonist of JANNAT 2, in view of the fact that the entire film is told from his standpoint, he's also the chronicler of the film, guiding the viewer through the events of the movie and in actual fact unraveling the story on screen. While the movie relies profoundly on Emraan's amazing abilities, director Kunal Deshmukh and writer Shagufta Rafique deserve brownie points for the movie's visual technique and taut writing. The duo justly enlighten us about the millions involved in the illegal trade and how many hands a single bullet passes through on its trip from its creation to its ultimate destructive use. JANNAT 2 is not a light-hearted movie or an action flick as the trailers may try to depict. Some of those elements are also part of it, but at the end of it all, the motion picture has a persuasive message to transport. An incredibly compelling film on a solemn issue!

While the first hour of the movie sets up the stage for a fascinating second hour, it's actually the intermission point that literally sets the ball rolling. Kunal and Shagufta reserve the best for the post-interval portions. The drama is captivating and the graph of the film only scales uphill. The twists and turns in the plot [followed by a super suspense towards the end] and the vital chase sequence in the dargah form the major highlights of the film. In fact, getting the second hour right is nothing short of a challenge for film-makers and a majority of films stumble and stagger in this hour, but not JANNAT 2. The tempo is consistent throughout; maintaining the undercurrent of anxiety unswervingly. There's no tedious moment, it keeps the spectator absolutely engrossed in the on-screen occurrences. The Northern flavor coupled with the acidic dialogue [Sanjay Masoom], lingo and abundant usage of expletives makes it appear so very bona fide. All things considered I must adjoin at this juncture that every part of the lavish praise and plentiful admiration for this spellbinding fare goes to its proficient director, Kunal Deshmukh.

JANNAT 2 is a tremendous album, with Pritam delivering a rich soundtrack. The placement of songs is most appropriate as well. I'd like to make a special mention of the background score [Raju Singh]. It's electrifying! The DoP's [Bobby Singh] contribution is commendable. His images are so significant to the attitude of the motion picture. Ditto for the action and chase sequences [Javed-Ejaz].

Emraan Hashmi plays Sonu Dilli, a street-smart brat who is a combination of fortitude and charisma, effortlessly. Trust me, you cannot envision anyone else doing what he does. Emraan, with his credible act, makes the devil seem charming and wickedness, charismatic. In fact, the actor is sure to astonish you with the mellowness of his performance. Randeep Hooda made you sit-up and notice his talent in ONCE UPON A TIME IN MUMBAAI and SAHEB BIWI AUR GANGSTER and now, once again in JANNAT 2, the actor delivers yet another knockout performance. He dominates in several sequences, making you realize that if given an opportunity, the guy can steal the thunder from the best of actors.

Debutante Esha Gupta enchants you with her captivating charm. She appears a tad unrefined at places, nonetheless she handles her part assertively. Manish Chaudhuri, who was wicked as hell in the recent BLOOD MONEY, outshines himself in JANNAT 2. He's simply superb! Brijendra Kala is admirable as Randeep's trusted colleague. Sumit Nijhawan, as Sarfaraz, is effective. Mohd. Zeeshan Ayyub, as Emraan's friend Balli, is top notch. Arif Zakaria is excellent.

On the whole, JANNAT 2 is an engaging film with tremendous appeal for the masses. An absorbing story, a swift and coherent narrative, exemplary direction, fantastic action, soothing music and stellar performances summarize the highlights of this triumphant franchise.

Story

This film stars with showing the births Siddhardha Roy (Pawan Kalyan) and Madhumita (Bhumika Chawla) in Kolkata and Kaikaluru respectively. They grow up and the scene changes and this couple are of 20 years old now. Siddardha Roy, who is fondly called as Siddu, is all set to go to Canada after securing the admission for doing his MS. On the other hand, Madhumita, who is fondly called as Madhu, is all set to engage a guy whom her father has chosen.

But the destiny has other plans for them. Siddu meets with an accident and gets hospitalized. The guy with whom Madhu is supposed to get engaged elopes with his secret sweetheart. And Madhu and Siddu get an admission in the Nizam college of Hyderabad.

They meet each other and find that they have lots of things in common and are made for each other. But there is one catch. They want others to express the love to them than expressing themselves.

One fine evening, during exams time, this couple wanted to do combined study. As Madhu is reading a book on 'Internet', our Siddu joins her with a book on 'Cobol'. Madhu is sensually dressed with a black transparent saree which made Siddu voyeur at her novel which gets exposed due to the breeze of air. Madhu gets suspicious and realizes that Siddu is ogling at her novel, in deed. She asks him about what he is doing and he denies the act of ogling at her. A small issue gets blown out of proportion and their inflated ego takes over their hearts and they decide that they are no more friends. They do not share any relationship.

They are brought back together as Madhu's best friend Lakshmi and Siddu's best friend Babu are in deep love and Lakshmi's father Gunduba Satti threatens Lakshmi of dire consequences if she continues her relationship with Babu. Madhu and Siddu decide that though they are united to save their friends, they individually share no relationship.

They marry off Lakshmi and Babu. As told by a background voice in the biginning of the film, it is sure that Siddu and Madhu are going to marry each other. But the most exiting thing is about this film that the turn of events they have gone through.

You must watch this film on a big screen with DTS effect to experience this amazingly essayed celluloid poetry.

Performances:

Artists:

Pawan Kalyan: "One-Man-Show" is the apt word that describes the role of Pawan Kalyan in this film. He has shown finesse in each and every department. Be it dialogue delivery, fighting, singing or dancing. This film has four fights, which are extraordinary. And the specialty of these fights is that Pawan Kalyan himself composes them all. They are very real and pretty powerful. The dialogue delivery and modulation of Pawan Kalyan is impeccable. So are the dances in this film, which are done with lot of grace.

Bhumika Chawla: Bhumika is very cute in this film. She matched Pawan with her performance.

Screenplay & direction: SJ Surya, who made a terrific film Vaali in the past, has come up with another winner this time. There is no story in this film. The whole 2 hours and 45 minutes of this story runs with a neat screenplay. He has done an extraordinary job as screenplay wright.

Music: The rerecording of this film is excellent and event the minute change of expression on the face of the actor is synchronized with the superb orchestration of background music in this film. Songs of this film are very good.

Dialogues: Rajendra Kumar's dialogues, which are pretty comedy oriented, make the viewers giggle all the time.

Songs: In addition to the six songs below, there are two other English straight songs for which Pawan Kalyan has done ultimate dances. One of that being the Macerena song that comes after the movie is over as a backdrop to the credit titles

Ye Sarah Jahan: This song comes as an introduction to Pawan Kalyan and his Good Samaritan attitude of respecting the country and citizens and bashing up the evil elements. This song in shot the streets of Kolkota.

Premate: This song is shot in the luster locales of New Zealand.

Ammaye: This is another highlight of the film, which is shot in the sets erected.

Aaduvari Matalaku: This is the cutest song of the lot in this film. Shot in the backdrop of luster locales, it shows Pawan Kalyan narrating the way women behave to his pet dog as Bhumika Chawla looks on.

Chelia Chelia: This song of the film just happens when thing started to go right for the couple.

Holi Holi: This song is a teaser for Bhumika Chawla that has Pawan and the vamp Mumtaj doing maverick dances.

Photography: PC Sreeram's work is another asset for the film.

Production: AM Ratnam, the uncompromising producer has compromised on some thing this time. Quality, that is. No wonder, this film has taken one year in making. AM Ratnam deserves another pat on his back for delivering another wholesome entertainer, a remade film this time.

Analysis: This film has 70% of comedy, 20% of songs and 10% of action in the backdrop of undercurrent love. Once, I started watching this film, I forgot about everything else and immersed myself in the inscrutable story that is unfolding on the screen. This film is an urbane one and has got all the ingredients the youth looks for. Pawan Kalyan is going from strength to strength and this is the best film done by him so far. The success of this film is unstoppable. But the magnitude of success of this film depends on how hardcore masses embrace this delicate urban youth film. Only the time will tell.

Tialpiece: I had to restrain myself from watching this film for the matinee again, as I had to rush to idlebrain studio to give you the review. I am jetting off to watch the film for the first show again, though

Direction: Surender Reddy

Production: Venkat

Music: Thaman S

For someone who is number one in everything, something stimulating and challenging is always required. What happens when he does find something like that but then it is wrong in the eyes of his loved one and also the law. Does he still want that sort of 'Kick'? let us see..

Story

Kalyan (ravi teja) and Naina (Ileana) love each other but then Kalyan is one man who loves to take up challenges just for the 'kick' of it. True to his nature, he gets bored of jobs easily and this tends to upset Naina a great deal. One day they have a showdown and Naina leaves Kalyan and comes to Malaysia. Here, her father fixes up an alliance with top cop Kalyan Krishna (shaam) and Naina tells her love story to him. Kalyan Krishna also explains his purpose of coming to Malaysia. There is a thief who in on the prowl and he has been robbing money from rich and famous. Who is that thief? Is Kalyan Krishna able to catch him? Does Naina forget Kalyan and get married to Kalyan Krishna? All this forms the rest of the story.

Performances

Ravi Teja was the life and soul for the movie and his performance has been justified. He shows his original energy levels and keeps the momentum on. Words cannot describe the beauty of Ileana after she has put on weight, she looks truly gorgeous and very sweet. She must continue this shape in her future films too. Shaam looks handsome and he could have been better, Ashika was alright. Brahmanandam did his bit to get the maximum laughs, Ali was supportive, Venu Madhav did not have much in this. Sayaji was brief, Kota, Banerjee, Chalapathi Rao came and went. The others did their bit as required.

Technical aspects

The dialogues have been written sensibly and the script could have been a bit tighter but it was written without flaws. The screenplay was effective and it was well supported by a soulful background score. The songs were mild and two numbers were really touching. Cinematography was the highlight and editing was done neatly. Costumes and art department contributed their bit and made their presence felt. Stunts were few but the car chase sequences were well executed.

Director's portrayal

The director has come up with a storyline that involves romance, comedy, suspense, thrills and also sentiment. So it was a mixture of many things which required a deft handling of the script. His presentation of the plot was alright but then he could have looked at working on the pace of the film and provided more quality instead of filling the gaps with few unwanted scenes. However, there was not much idle moment given by him except during the second half where the speed comes down drastically. Overall, it was an okay job.

Critic's view

The film attempts to provide complete entertainment from start to end and except two scenes where there is a sentiment and melodrama, the rest of the movie runs mostly on comedy and action along with few thrills and twists. But then the movie could have been a lot better if the speed was worked upon and also the fights were not much in the movie which could have pushed in more adrenaline. Given the budget involved in the making of the film, it looks a bit skeptical as to how so much money has gone into it but then recovering that big an investment is something which could be a challenge. The plus point for the makers is there are no releases in their way right now so an aggressive marketing and a positive word of mouth will help them reach their goal.

Verdict

Good mix of various elements, can be watched.

Cast: Ravi Teja, Ileana, Shaam, Ashika, Kota, Venu Madhav, Brahmanandam, Sayaji Shinde, Ali, Jayaprakash Reddy, Banerjee, Chalapathi Rao etc.

Dammu Movie Review:
MOVIE: Dammu

Star Cast: NTR, Trisha, Karthika, Kota, Suman, Bhanu Priya, Ali, Brahmanandam, Nasser, Venu Etc

Director: Boyapati Srinu

Music: M M Keeravani

Producer: K Vallabha

Banner: Creative Commercials

WWW.BHARATONE.COM Rating: 3/5

Story: 'I waited for 10 years to make a movie with NTR', these are the words of producer Ks Rama Rao. ' I rejected 10 scripts from Boyapati before signing 'Dammu'', NTR revealed during the audio function. Director Boyapati promised it would become a industry biggest hit. Let's see how the movie is fared in real.

Movie starts with the rivalry between Suman ( Vasi Reddy) family and Nasser family. Both families indulge in killing others for the supremacy in the village. In the process, everyone in Vasi Reddy family dies making Nasser uncontested villain of the village for the next twenty five years.

Twenty five years passes, Veera Durgam (Kota) adopts Rama Chandra (NTR) an orphan in the city and introduces him to the family and villagers as Vijaya Dwaja Simha , a heir to Vasireddy family. Now it is turn of Vijaya Dwaja Simha to live up to the expectations of family members and villagers.

Rest of the story is how Vijaya Dwaja Simha wins the heart of the people and stops the killings in the village.

Performance: NTR is terrific as Rama Chandra and Vijaya Dwaja Simha. The script demands a one man show and NTR fully justifies it. He is at his usual best when it comes to dialogue delivery or giving expressions. He carried the heavy weight role with ease. The dialogue about his political aspiration will please his fans.

Trisha looked older to NTR while Karthika oozed extra oomph. Both are limited to couple of scenes and songs.

Nasser acted well in villain role. Kota is usual in grandfather role. Suman and Bhanu Priya acted well in couple of scenes. Venu acted in brother in law role. Ali and Brahmanandam failed to tickle the audience rib bones.

Ahuti Prasad, Vijay Kumar, Tanikella Bharani, Ranganath will just a add to the cast list.

Technical: Boyapati chose a tried and tested story to elevate the image of NTR. The screenplay runs on predictable note. Boyapati Seenu gave mass treatment to a rather simple story. There are enough mass elements to satisfy NTR fans. He is able show the two different shades of NTR very well. His direction is good in high voltage drama scenes.

Keeravani music is good. Background score should have been better in action sequences. Re-recording is good. O Lilly, Vasthu babgundi with four heroines are visually good while Ruler song disappoints. Choreography is good.

Ram Laxman composed high energetic action sequences. Unfortunately, bloodshed is high. Cinematography by Arthur Wilson is topnotch. M.Ratnam dialogues are powerful and suited very well for the stature of NTR.

Analysis: First thing first, ‘Dammu’ failed to reach the high expectations. Weak story coupled with predictable screenplay hamper the success of the movie at the box office. Boyapati tried to give a message about value of the life in the climax made it weak.

On the positive side, Boyapati should be commended for the way he elevated NTR. The mass elements in the movie will be a feast to NTR fans and for those who like high voltage drama. Unfortunately, director failed to etch any other character well. Lack of drama, comedy, and excessive violence make the movie appeal to a particular section of the audiences.

Finally, the movie success depends on how mass audience receives the movie. It all the way only NTR ‘Dammu’
