What happens when the dazzling diva of Bollywood crosses roads with the demi God of Tollywood—‘Robot’ is the answer! The most expensive movie of the millennium in Bollywood, ‘Robot’ has all the ingredients of creating hysteria amongst the movie buffs. Which is why, we strongly recommend the movie for both the fans and non-fans of Rajni saar. A total paisa vasool, the prodigious imagination of writer-director, Shankar rightly reflect as to why Rajni is almost worshipped in some parts of India. While there is no looking adrift from the sheer charisma of Rajni on screen, Aishwariya too sweeps you off your feet with her bold and powerful acting prowess. However, word of caution - please keep your logics and explanations outside the theatre. Remember, when you start looking for sense is when you would feel all disconcerted and bored! So, it’s okay to feel frenzy and crazy with all the craziness around!
Talking about the premises of the movie, we have two Rajnis’ (as if one was not enough) in the film. While there is a scientist Vaseegaran, who’s researching and building a complex robotic machine, the other is robot Chitti (also Rajini) a unique character who has the traits of a spiderman, master-chef, and an ace-choreographer. We then have the bad daddy played by Danny, who is the senior of Vaseegaran. Aishwarya Rai plays Sana, a cute girl, who somehow or the other always manages to trap herself into a mess, only to get saved by the scientist and machine each time. Soon, the machine falls in love with Sana (weird you might feel, but don’t you remember, it’s a Rajni film after all). However, the love is not reciprocated, as Sana thinks of Chitti (the robot) as just a toy-friend and not a boyfriend. All hell break loose when Chitti realizes this and we have a perfect over-the-top dramatic tale in store!
Outrageous situations, bloody vengeance, loud humor—couple this with some really super sci-fi quality special effects and you have a scintillating action thriller at hand. Most of the moolahs in the movie were spent on the special effects, and it wouldn’t be wrong to say that they have paid back in style. Rajnikant has mutated spiderman, batman, superman and the rest of the superhero relics with panache. However, Robot with its sci-fi body has a heart-wrenching soul too. It perfectly portrays the man-machine war, through its interesting twists and turns. The film gets pacy in the second half and almost unstoppable in the finale. Visual extravagance is at par in the last couple of minutes, wherein there is a thin line between illusion and reality.
Writer-director S. Shankar needs to be given a hats off for coming with a movie like this. Not at any point of time in the film, does the megastar image of Rajni overpower the excellence of the film. In fact, it wouldn’t be wrong to say that the visual glory that the film creates impresses audience more than the charisma of Rajni. Yuen Woo Ping also deserves a round of applause for coming up with high-adrenaline rush stunts. Adding spice to the perfect picture is AR Rahman’s foot-tapping music and Prabhu Deva’s magnificent thumka’s. As far as the performance is concerned, we have nothing other than the word “flawless”. To cut matters short, ‘Robot’, despite its overdose, would be Rajni’s magnum opus in this career! It is definitely the pungent masala film that Bollywood needed as this point of time. Just watch it guys —you’ll keep wanting for more!! Mind it!!
Robot Hindi Movie Pre-release Review
The dynamic and highly-celebrated duo of Shankar and Rajnikanth are back with the year’s most expensive and much-awaited film ‘Robot’. This big-budget science-fiction and action-packed film is deemed to be the costliest Tamil film ever made, or more precisely, the most expensive Asian film ever made. Directed by the hottest Tamil filmmaker Shankar, the movie has been produced by Kalanidhi Maran and distributed by Sun Pictures. The signature fusion music has been composed by Oscar winner music maestro A.R. Rahman, while the lyrics have been written by Swanand Kirkire. ‘Robot’ is set to release on 24th September, 2010 along with its original version as ‘Enthiran’ in Tamil and dubbed adaptation ‘Robo’ in Telugu.
What do you get when you cross man, machine and mohabbat? This is the basic concept that ‘Robot’ relies on. The flick entails the story of a scientist and his hard-earned robot, both played by Rajnikant himself. Scientist Dr. Vaseegaran has created an andro humanoid robot named ‘Chitti’, with all the features of a typical human being: dancing, singing, fighting and resistance to water and fire. A sure-shot challenge to the real human being indeed! But what happens when this artificially intelligent Chitti, initially created to help human beings and contribute towards the country’s development, starts developing a soft corner for Sana (Aishwarya Rai Bachchan)? This is where Dr. Vasu faces the obstacles of utilizing Chitti for the main purpose so created.
Will Dr. Vasu be able to re-transform Chitti back into the exceptionally sharp-memorized robot? Or will he have to fight back his own creation to save himself? With the trailers on-air already creating waves about the success of the movie, director S. Shankar and Rajnikanth can only keep their fingers crossed. Ash fans will get to see their talented actor in a hot and beautiful new avatar. Shot across different parts of the world, namely, United States, Switzerland, South Africa and Peru, ‘Robot’ is expected to break all box office records only to create a new smashing one. Let’s wait will September 24th, 2010 and see whether the extraordinary pairing of Rajnikanth and Aishwarya Rai would be victorious in creating ripples among the audience or not.
