Two young boys are sent to a remand home for a murder they didn’t commit. Director:Faruk Kabir
Cast:Naseruddin Shah, Sharman Joshi, Faruk Kabir,
Atul Kulkarni, Anjana Sukhani
Rating:**
Two young boys are sent to a remand home for a murder they didn’t commit. Much abuse is heaped upon them by a sadistic warden and his cohorts ; when they come out after several years, they’ve got crime on their minds.
Some of ‘Allah Ke Banday’ reminds you of ‘Sleepers’; some of it is ‘City Of God’; it also references several recent similarly themed Hindi films touching upon the slumkids-crime-life axis. In the taut first half, first time director Faruk Kabir gets most of it right. The plain hard thing that living poor and defenceless in a heartless slum can be, the getting into wrong company, and setting off on the path of no return : these are things we’ve seen before but this take is all right up to the point the boys ( Joshi and Kabir, the director) grow up, develop muscles and attitude, and come back for revenge.

Break Ke Baad Hindi Movie Review: Film: Break Ke Baad Starring: Imran Khan, Deepika Padukone, Shahana Goswami, Yudhishtr Urs, Sharmila Tagore, Navin Nischol and Lillete Dubey. Rating: Director: Danish Aslam.
With a promise of entertaining the youth, debutant director Danish Aslam tries to offer you an old story with some new twists and turns incorporated in it. However, you will enjoy the chemistry between the two young leads Imran Khan as Abhay and Deepika Padukone as Aaliya. They are childhood sweethearts, who share their first kiss when they watch Kuch Kuch Hota Hai for the third time. So, it’s genuinely a love story but with some added fun elements.
Aaliya is ambitious, gorgeous and stubborn while Abhay is aimless in his life. For Aaliya, love is not everything and wants to be a renowned actress. But they can’t stay without each other even when they fight. You must have seen her saying ‘Main Shah Rukh Khan hu’ during the promos and that is one funny seen where she is totally drunk. Even though, she is insensitive sometimes but knows Abhay is the strong pillar of her life.
To fulfill her ambition, Aaliya leaves for Australia and Abhay follows her. Here, you can see some funny but confusing scenes between them. Finally, Lillette Dubey enters the scene and she does not mind calling Aalia ‘chudail’ even when she has divorced thrice in her own life.
It has a soulful music and a story that youth can relate to. So, it’s not a bad idea to watch the movie during this weekend with friends!

Cast Makrand Deshpande, Nagesh Bhosle, Preetika Chawla, Shahrukh Khan...... Special Appearance, Sanjay Dadheech, Kay Kay Menon, Choyoti Ghosh, Afzal Khan
Movie Report Shahrukh Bola Khoobsurat Hai Tu is a film written and directed by actor director Makrand Deshpande. It is an occasionally engaging story about a flower girl, Laali played nicely by Preetika Chawla, whose life changes when Shah Rukh Khan stops at the signal where she sells flowers and compliments her on her beauty. The film is a comment on our obsession with stars, on how deeply Hindi cinema permeates our lives and also, how cinema elevates ordinary people into deities.
The story revolves around a young girl called Lali (Preetika Chawla), who is a huge Shahrukh Khan fan sells flowers at traffic signals. On one such working day when she goes out to sell her flowers, she spots the super star, Shahrukh Khan at the signal. As she is busy trying to convince him to buy her flowers, Shahrukh happens to casually give her a compliment and tells her she is beautiful. This casual statement becomes the greatest turning point in the flower seller's life.
Being a young girl and as obsessed as any other young girl in the country with stars, she changes her entire thinking process and starts to live a life of fantasy. Lali begins to avoid the local book seller John who had a soft corner for her and who in turn goes to seek solace in the arms of the bar girl who always had had an eye on John.
Thus, as Lali lives in her own life of self boosted energy which was the result of just one statement from the super star Shahrukh Khan, John is fast being convinced by the bar girl to change his profession and start driving an auto rickshaw, a very common form of transport in the cosmopolitan city of Mumbai.
The other characters like the local cop and a journalist are also dragged into the drama that ensues due to Shahrukh Khan's statement.
The film has moments of insight and irony. There is a real sweetness and ache to Laali's devotion to the star. I also enjoyed the feisty, always-ready-for-a-fight bar girl but sadly Makrand's script sags under the weight of his ideas and never takes off. A film like this required more inventive and flamboyant writing. The second half especially is repetitive and meandering and the characters aren't engaging enough to carry the narrative. The boyfriend John is so limp that you wonder why any of these girls are willing to settle for him.
Peformance wise, Preetika Chawla is flawless. She is just natural in her acting. Nagesh Bhosale and Makrand Deshpande, both are efficient. Shahrukh khan has a briefe role in this film. Rest of the cast comprises of new faces largely and each of them delivers pure performances.
On the whole, Shahrukh Bola Khoobsurat Hai Tu is just an average film. This film has nothing much to offer.

view GUZAARISH videos
GUZAARISH took me back to a certain period of my life. I was grumpy and constantly fretting over miniscule things. I used to lose my patience at the drop of a hat. Then an incident changed my outlook towards life. GUZAARISH has the same potential.
This film is special for more reasons than one. After DHOOM 2 and JODHAA AKBAR, it sees the re-union of two of the finest actors in the film industry- Hrithik Roshan and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan. Director Sanjay Leela Bansali is donning the director's hat after almost three years. It also deals with a very sensitive issue of Euthanasia (mercy killing).
He was the best magician in town. But a fatal accident left Ethan Mascarenhas (Hrithik Roshan) paralysed and bedridden for life. Presently hosting a Radio show 'Hello Zindagi' Ethan spreads hope to listeners through his inimitable wit and humour. For twelve years, he's being aided by nurse Sofia D'Souza (Aishwarya Rai Bachchan), who's much more than a nurse.
On the fourteenth anniversary of his accident, Ethan decides to make a petition to the court for Euthanasia (He prefers calling it Ethanasia). This leaves his best friend and lawyer Devyani (Shernaz Patel) and Sofia in complete disarray. Meanwhile, a young man named Omar Siddiqui (Aditya Roy Kapoor) enters Ethan's world with a steadfast desire to learn magic from him.
First things first. GUZAARISH is not an abstract and ambiguous film. It's a simply narrated film made with a lot of heart. Although it's sensitive, it never gets dukhi. Sanjay Leela Bhansali has treated the grave issue of mercy killing with maturity. Although it's about a suffering person who wants to end his life, its message is about celebrating life. The best part about the film is that it involves you as a viewer. You surely feel for Ethan's plight. He leaves you smiling in many scenes and moist-eyed in some.
The first half is so breezy that you don't realise when it gets over. The second half is a bit of a drag. Like KAL HO NAA HO and the more recent PAA, GUZAARISH's narrative is very light-hearted laden with humorous moments. Ethan says, 'God pe bharosa hai, isiliye I am dying to meet him.' Also, the scene in which Sofia gives Ethan a leg massage is uproarious.
There are some really poignant moments that leave a lasting impression. Ethan watches a scarecrow on a field, which is symbolic to his own condition. The court-room scenes are just too good. While you expect Ethan to give a long monologue, he conveys everything through his 60-seconds magic trick.

Story
Seenu (Varun) is going for his second marriage and he meets Nimisha (Nisha Shah) while Avantika (Nisha Agarwal) is also going for her second marriage and meets Yuva (Shashank). Both of them decide to tell about their past to their prospective life partners. The flashback reveals how Seenu and Avantika meet each other, fall in love, get married against their parents wishes and in no time, get separated as well. Now, the time comes when they are almost about to get married to their new partners. Whether they move on with their life or will their love and the essence of marriage stop them forms the rest of the story.
Artists Performance:
Varun Sandesh has given a spirited performance. His foreign accent has reduced but he should not have forced the Telangana accent that looked superficial. He did his best to keep the film going. Telugu Movie Reviews
Nisha resembles Kajal in side angles and she looks cute. However, there is a lot of stiffness in her body language and it will take another three or four films for her to get that confidence and screen presence.
Vennela Kishore is a show stealer. In fact, he is the person who brings in some really nice moments of humor. It is about time the Tollywood folks give this talented performer some meatier roles and better banners.
Shashank did his bit as required but then he seems to have lost his confidence in front of the camera. His performance looked quite brittle, the flow and talent he showed in ‘Anukokunda Oka Roju’ was missing completely.
Nisha Shah looks voluptuous and seductive. She is comfortable and has the right kind of looks. If she can work on reducing her flab, she has the potential to grab few more offers.
Pragathi was elegant, few of her dialogues were quite thought provoking. MS Narayana and Krishna Bhagawan were brief, Madhu Sharma showed her oomph in the item song. Jhansi was okay.
Highlights:
* Vennela Kishore’s comedy * The scenes where Pragathi reminds Nisha about the value of parents and the essence of marriage * Varun’s dialogue on Nagarjuna and Naga Chaitanya
Disappointments:
* Cheap and sleazy comedy * The portrayal of girls in Ameerpet hostel and the portrayal of men on the whole * Double meaning dialogues * Songs and background score * The cause of break up between Varun and Nisha looks absolutely silly * The urge to have physical relationship and how Varun keeps begging Nisha for that

Review
Story
Satyanarayana Murthy (Chiranjeevi) is a good hearted man in Amalapuram. The sudden death of his niece comes as a rude shock to him. But later on, he realizes that it was not a natural death, but died due to a careless shootout. He visits Hyderabad in search of the culprit who killed his niece. The rest of the story is all about how he accomplished it with the help of divine intervention and Neelima (Bhumika Chawla).
Artists Performance
Chiranjeevi: Chiranjeevi is in his elements again in this film by playing it to the galleries in comedy department. 70% of the scenes involving Chiranjeevi are dealt in humorous way. The way Chiranjeevi performs while kidnapping Sunil, making bakra out of Brahmanandam and church marriage scene is just perfect. His portrayal of affection towards his niece in flashback episode is also good. Dances performed are satisfactory.
Others: Sameera Reddy is the glamour doll of this film. She is nice and did Shakeera trademark dances. Bhumika Chawla who enters into the film in the second half plays a pivotal role. But her characterization is passive. Arbaz Khan is adequate as villain. Rahul Dev and Jaya Prakash Reddy are OK. Pingpong gave a commendable performance in an author-backed role of Rasool. Sunil is entertaining as innocent son of Jaya Prakash Reddy. Brahmanandam's episode in USA is nice. Tanikella Bharani as visa agent is hilarious. The child actress who did the role of niece is extremely cute. Venu Madhav is adequate.
Technical Departments:
Screenplay - direction: Vijaya Bhaskar is known for directing films that blend love, humor and sentiment in the right proportions. For the first time he has dealt with revenge story in this film. But the comedy in the film is given lot of footage. Screenplay should have been better. Though the comedy is entertaining, the purpose of the lead man taking revenge was not projected in an effective way. The divine intervention aspect and parallels to Ramayana are also not well established.
But his style of cooking up scenes laced with humor is intact. The following episodes in the film put you into splits
1. Ten Downing Street pub humor 2. Comedy episode in Delhi Public School 3. Sunil kidnap episode 4. Comedy of Marriage in Church 5. Brahmanandam in USA
The following episodes are impressive in terms of sentiment
1. Flashback episode 2. Hero caring for the girl suffering as child labor 3. Pingpong episode
The following films seem to have inspired certain scenes
1. Payback: Phone bomb planted by goons is being cleverly used by hero to assassinate them. 2. Fatal attraction: Boiling a puppy.
Story - dialogues: Story of the film is pretty strong one if emotions could be brought out in an effective way. Dialogues by Trivikram have his trademark punches and sensible humor. The way he makes lighter vein comedy out of seemingly general things is excellent.
Here are a couple of scenes that shows how Trivikram plays with words and situations to generate neat humor
After rescuing a lady in the train Hero: Emi Chaduvutunnavamma Girl: Swathi Hero: Bandi lo kaadamma, ballo!
While going to USA in Hyderabad airport MS Narayana: Eevida evarandi? Chiranjeevi: Maa Aavida MSN: Mari eevida evaru? Frienda leka neighbora? Chiranjeevi: Naaku kaboye pellam MSN: Abbo nuvvu Americalo vundalsina vaadivi! Chiranjeevi: Avunu. Akkadike Veltunna.
Other departments: Music by Mani Sharma appears better on screen compared to listening on the audio tape. Cinematography by Venu (NVNV fame) is OK. Production values by Vyjayanthi banner are good.
Analysis: First half of the film is satisfactory with entertainment. There is lag in the second half. Sunil, marriage and Brahmanandam episodes are dealt well in the second half. Climax should have been handled better. The plus points of the film are Chiranjeevi and comedy dialogues by Trivikram. On the flipside, the main revenge objective of hero was not efficiently projected. We have to wait and see how Jai Chiranjeeva! fares at the box office!
Race Hindi Movie Review: It looks like Race is going to be the one of the big hits of 2008. The latest thriller made by Bollywood thriller masters Abbas-Mustan’s is an A-class entertainer. Sexy women in short clothes, handsome hunks, beautiful locations, good stunts, lots of songs with catchy rhythm and loud music (except ‘Pehli Nazar Mein’) is a good definition of a masala flick. On an average, the reviewers gave the movie a rating of 2.5/3 in 5 and 7 in 10. The major allegation against the movie makers- the story and narration is not so edgy. The good things about the movie: Allan Amin’s stunt sequences, Saif Ali and Akshaye Khanna’s acting and Bipasha and Katrina’s sex appeal (the last one works for me very well :)
Ok, now let us look at the reviews. What they say about the movie.
Glamsham gives it a rating of 2.5. According to the review, Race repeats the step-bro angle of Raqueeb. Moreover, the story is confusing, when did Bipasha and Saif meet to hatch a plan? What is the significance of Katrina Kaif? The directors failed to give a convincing story. However, Allan Amin is the true hero of the movie. His stunt works are fabulous. Anil is playing a Xerox copy character of Karamchand. Saif has done a great job. The movie is worth a watch.

Bava Movie Review
Siddharth is one amongst the very few actors who has worked with new directors in a majority of his movies. In this movie as well, he has introduced another debutant director, Rambabu for Baava.
Story:
Veerababu (Siddharth) is a carefree and naughty village lad of Venkatapuram in East Godavari. Along with his set of friends (Prasad, Venu and others), the whole village is crazy about him. His parents love their only son a lot – especially his father, Sitaram Prasad (Rajendra Prasad).
Siddharth chances upon and falls in love with Varalakshmi (Pranitha), who belongs to a well-to-do and large family of a nearby village. Vara, however, does not respond to his overtures despite Veera wooing her incessantly. But Vara soon realizes that Veera is her childhood friend and she falls in love with him.
During this time, Vara’s father (Ahuti Prasad) who enjoys a high status in society pressurizes her to get married to the son of a neighboring village head. Vara asks Veera to something and they end up getting married. However, Veera’s father (Rajendra Prasad) refuses to accept Vara because she is the daughter of Veerababu’s maternal uncle. Rajendra Prasad convinces his daughter-in-law (heroine) to go back to her house and says that he will perform their wedding only with acceptance of her family.
Why Veerababu’s mother never visits her relatives’ home, what happens after Veera’s father sends Varalakshmi back to her home and does Veera succeed in his love story – all these form the rest of the story.

Action Replayy Hindi Movie Review: Director : Vipul Shah Music : Pritam Chakraborthy Lyrics : Irshad Kamil Starring : kshay Kumar, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Randhir Kapoor, Kiron Kher, Om Puri, Neha Dhupia and Aditya Roy Kapoor The retro fever has certainly caught Bollywood big time! First it was Farah Khan's OM SHANTI OM, which paid a classic tribute to the 70s. To execute a retro theme in a narrative isn't a piece of cake and Farah executed it with aplomb. Then, in this year itself, came Milan Luthria's ONCE UPON A TIME IN MUMBAAI, which was about the growth of Mumbai's underworld. Now, Vipul Shah takes us back to the past with his retro comedy, ACTION REPLAYY.
Based on a famous Gujarati play of the same name, ACTION REPLAYY also sees the reunion of Aishwarya Rai Bachchan and Akshay Kumar after KHAKEE. Also, Vipul Shah is back with his blue-eyed boy Akshay after AANKHEN, WAQT and NAMASTEY LONDON.
The plot is inspired from Robert Zemeckis' BACK TO THE FUTURE, a time-travel comedy. Bunty (Aditya Roy Kapoor) loves his girlfriend Tanya (Sudeepa Singh) but doesn't want to marry her. Why? Because of his parents, Kishen (Akshay Kumar) and Mala (Aishwarya Rai). He has seen them quarrelling all through their married life. One day, Tanya's grandfather, Professor Anthony Gonsalves (Randhir Kapoor), gives him the choice to either marry Tanya or forget her forever. Using Professor's time machine, he transports himself to the 70s and plans to rewrite his parents' destiny.
If you're expecting a fun ride with loads of gags coupled with romance and drama, you are in for a disappointment. There are just a few smile-inducing moments in this otherwise lackadaisical film.
view ACTION REPLAYY stills
The retro look and feel manages to entice. But the narrative gets so overtly hackneyed, that you are waiting for Bunty to come back to the present time. Its predictable story is treated frivolously by Vipul Shah, especially the dragging second half. There are songs aplenty, that don't help in taking the story forward. Even the uninspiring climax is a turn-off.
It has this glaring loophole. It's difficult to comprehend why nobody questions Bunty on his bizarre clothing, when he frequently calls Kishan and Mala, dad and mom respectively, or when he keeps telling about the future events. Pritam's music score is just okay with only Zor ka jhatka being good.
Akshay Kumar delivers a decent performance. But it's getting tiring to see him in similar comedy roles now. Aishwarya Rai Bachchan plays her bubbly character with panache. But the chemistry between them Akshay and Aishwarya is missing. Rannvijay Singh is good in his bad role. Aditya Roy Kapoor does a decent job. However, his acting reminds one of Farhan Akhtar. Kirron Kher and Om Puri don't have much to do. Neha Dhupia is wasted.
This time-travel is a wearing journey. Truly, Zor ka jhatka hai zoron se laga.
Rohit Shetty begins GOLMAAL 3 with a few collage shots of GOLMAAL and GOLMAAL RETUNS. He has every reason to do so. After all, both clicked with the audiences and set the cash registers ringing. But they also bring with them a humongous set of expectations for GOLMAAL 3.
GOLMAAL 3 promises to be bigger. Not only the characters, the number of action sequences, gags are a lot more than the previous two editions. You also have a dog this time named 'Facebook'.
After GOLMAAL, GOLMAAL RETURNS and ALL THE BEST, Ajay Devgn teams up with Rohit Shetty yet again this Diwali. Their combination has proved to be very successful. Also, in the recent past, Ajay has excelled doing comedy and action, something which this film has aplenty.
The story bears resemblance to Basu Chatterjee's 1978 film, KHATTA MEETHA starring Ashok Kumar and Pearl Padamsee. Its plot bears no similarity to GOLMAAL or GOLMAAL RETURNS. Set in Goa, it follows the story of two groups who can't stand each other. Gopal (Ajay Devgn) lives with his brother Laxman (Shreyas Talpade), mother Geeta (Ratna Pathak Shah) and friend Daboo (Kareena Kapoor). The other group led by Madhav (Arshad Warsi) includes Lucky (Tusshar Kapoor) and Laxman (Kunal Khemu). Pritam (Mithun Chakraborty) is their father, who was in a relationship with Geeta. They meet after many years and realise their old spark is still alive. Daboo somehow gets them married, thereby bringing the two rival groups together. You also have a thief with a short term memory loss, Puppy (Johnny Lever) and his sidekicks played by Vrajesh Hirjee and Sanjay Mishra who are on a hunt to find a necklace.
view GOLMAAL 3 stills
Like the previous two films, GOLMAAL 3 doesn't boast of a splendid storyline and relies basically on the gags and the performances. It oscillates between being tremendously hilarious and tremendously boring. The gags rely basically on puns. If you are not turned off by Johny Lever kissing Arshad Warsi, you'll have a good time.
You wish the writing was more consistent. It starts on positive and funny note but doesn't manage to hang on to it. However, it comes back strongly in the zany climax, involving the entire cast. The dialogues are witty and fresh. The copious action sequences involving blowing cars, fail to enthrall as we've seen them
Be prepared to roll on the floor laughing in the spoof of GHAJINI or PAA. Even Arshad Warsi comparing Mithun's age with God is uproarious. The GOLMAAL team loves to take a dig at people from the film industry and this time, their bakras are Shahid Kapoor and Aamir Khan.
Most of the performances are rocking. Ajay Devgn, though reminds one of Nana Patekar, is excellent. Kareena Kapoor is passable in her tomboy role. Like before, Tusshar Kapoor is outstanding. Watch out for his emotional outburst with the entire gang. Arshad Warsi is excellent and his comic timing is awesome. But the real stars are undoubtedly Mithun Chakraborty and Johny Lever. They are just perfect and manage to make you laugh every time they appear on screen. Ratna Pathak Shah is admirable. Shreyas Talpade doesn't impress in his stammering act. Kunal Khemu is a valuable addition to the cast. Sanjay Sharma imitates Jeevan again after ONE TWO THREE. Vrajesh Hirjee, Mukesh Tiwari and Ashwini Kalsekar are good in their small roles.
If you enjoyed watching GOLMAAL and GOLMAAL RETURNS, chances are you'll like GOLMAAL 3. It's a funny but capricious ride.
