KSD Appalaraju Movie Review – KSD Appalaraju Review – Katha Screenplay Darsakatvam Appalaraju Telugu Movie: Ram Gopal Varma surely knows the techniques to be in news. He knows what kind of films and what sort of methods work to grab the attention of media and audience alike. Soon after making controversial Rakta Charitra, RGV has chosen to make a film on Telugu film field. A film about films and film industry has a lot of potential and when it is being made by a director of Ram Gopal Varma caliber it is sure to up the ante. Like always Ram Gopal Varma’s KSD Appalaraju too has been the favorite of media circles as the maverick director did his best to put his film in news. So, did it live up to expectations and worth the wait? Here is KSD Appalaraju review…

Story:

Appalaraju (Sunil) who is an avid film buff comes to Hyderabad with an aim to become a top film director. He has a heroine oriented script Nayaki, with which he impresses a smalltime producer Rakhi (Raghu Babu). Later on a top heroine Kanishka (Sakshi Gulati) gets bowled over by Appalaraju’s script and readily accepts to star in it. The hero character is too small in it but Kanishka convinces her boy friend and top hero Babu (Adarsh) to be a part of the film. So, Nayaki turns out to be a star studded film in making. However, Kanishka and Babu breaks up and in comes KT (Ajay) an upcoming superstar into the film. This irks Babu and he tries in every possible way to put breaks on Nayaki. On the other hand, Appalraju who was earlier stubborn in changing his script for commercial conveniences and starry glitches starts to make a film according to the hero and producer will. His aim to make a new wave film doesn’t get fulfilled but he becomes a successful film director and he also bags a Gurram award as the best comedy director with Nayaki.

Analysis:

Ram Gopal Varma’s main intention in making this film is to let the people know how the aspiring directors get compromised due to filmy circumstances and of course the never changing attitude of audience and their love for masala elements. KSD Appalaraju is a satirical movie which targets the film industry and also the audience alike. RGV’s idea is good but Appalaraju fails in the execution. There is no proper Katha, screenplay in this film. Ram Gopal Varma takes everything for granted and shows that any director with good script in hands can become a director within no time. But the reality is nowhere near to it.

Even the scenes and content are not at all appealing. The satires don’t click as audience doesn’t connect with them. Only a few from film industry would know whom RGV is mocking about. The lack of proper script keeps showing its impact as the film moves on towards the intermission. Abrupt placing of songs will hurt the audience even more. Four songs come in the first half and except for one song nothing fits into the narrative. The film gets verbal as it reaches the interval point and badly written dialog adds to the woes of audience.

First half ends in an uninteresting way and RGV messes it up big time in the next hour. Second half is very bad that it will put a big test for the audience patience. It will be pretty hard to sit through this boringly amateurish film. Climax is another tortureas every character gives over the top performance.

Performances:

Sunil tried to be subtle but ended up with a tame show. The lack of interest is seen in his expressions. We can’t blame him as the content of the film is that bad that even a senior actor like Sunil too fails to be in his sorts. Ajay and Adarsh are okay as the egoistic heroes and Sakshi Gulati performance is painful to watch. Swathi once again goes overboard as the director asked her to be so. Raghu Babu is fine and Harshavardhan is good. Brahmanandam’s comedy falls flat and Tanu Roy’s over action is unbearable. Raja Ravinder, Tanikella Bharani, Suman Shetty, Venu Madhav etc did according to the directions of RGV.

Technicalities:

The film is made on a low scale budget and most of the scenes look like a TV serial. Not much was spent on the talkie part. Only a couple of songs are shot well. Cinematography is not up to the standards of Varma. Music is another minus. Background score can be regarded as the worst ever in a mainstream Telugu cinema. Editing is not impressive. Dialogue and other departments failed utterly making this film to be a fine example of what it can be when all the 24 crafts go wrong. Production values are substandard.

Ram Gopal Varma can breathe easy. If Bollywood critics watch this flick they would rate that Aag is way better than Appalaraju. In that way Ram Gopal Varma outclassed himself. Hope he doesn’t better it with his next outings.

Plus Points:

- Some satires on film industry
- Song on directors

Minus points:

- Katha
- Screenplay
- Maatalu
- Camera
- Editing
- Darsakatvam

Final Word:

KSD Appalaraju is a satire which has gone wrong completely. Ram Gopal Varma and his film have turned laughing stock in an attempt to laugh at others. This is a good example for how not to make a film. Avoid it by all means.

Story

Narasimha (Prakash Raj) is a rowdy who aspires to become a political leader with the blessings of home minister (Sayaji Shinde). Home Minister’s son Ajay (Ajay) falls in love with Pooja (Tapsee) who is the sister of Narasimha. Home Minister promises MLA ticket to Narasimha if he marries his sister off to Ajay. Narasimha accepts the proposal. Venkatappa Naidu aka Venky (Vishnu) is an aspiring boxer who chills out with his friends. Due to certain misrepresentation Venky’s family thinks that he is dating Pooja. Narasimha thinks that Pooja is dating Venky. Once the misunderstandings are cleared, the damage is already done by Narasimha to the family of Venky. The rest of the story is all about how Venky settles the score with Narasimha
Artists Performance

Vishnu Manchu: Vishnu Manchu has positive body language in the movie and he is looking good. He changed his dialogue delivery a bit to suit the modulation of Mohan Babu. He has tried new steps in Dabidi Dibidi song and he is very flexible with his movements in this song. The fights in themovie are also well performed by him.

Others: Tapsee is glamorous in the movie. Brahmanandam who starts off in a routine note creates good entertainment in the second half. This character is a cake walk for Prakash Raj and his dialogues are neat. Satyam Rajesh, Siva Reddy and Babloo acted as hero’s friends. Ali’s cameo is ineffective. Ajay didn’t have an effective role in the movie. Sanjay Reddy (CEO of Gemini) did the role of Vishnu’s brother and he is camera-friendly.
Technical departments

Story - screenplay - direction: It is an interesting story with nice screenplay. The hero and the heroine doesn’t meet each other till interval point, but lots of things happen around as everybody thinks that they are dating each other. This film also sports some interesting screenplay that we find in Seenu Vytla’s movies. However, the director who could able to come up with decent writing couldn’t convert it efficiently onto the screen.

Other departments: Cinematography by the veteran cinematographer S Gopal Reddy is good. This is the first straight Telugu movie to be shot entirely by digital camera. You will not see much of a difference between the output of digital camera and the regular camera. Music by Mani Sharma is good and all the songs are shot well. My favorites are Hello Everybody and Padha Padha. Since the couple meet only during interval, most of the songs are more like imaginary ones from the third character’s point of view. Dialogues are okay. There is a good dialogue on the greatness of Telugu and a ‘punch’ dialogue on Andhra, Rayalaseema and Telangana. Stunts are well choreographed. Production values by 24-Frames factory are good.

Analysis: First half of the movie is average. There is good entertainment in the second half which is aided by a few screenplay twists. However, the director goes for a predictable climax. The ending/climax is too lengthy. Plus points of the movie are interesting screenplay and entertainment in the second half. On the flip side, The director couldn’t get it right in the first half and climax. On a whole, Vastadu Naa Raju is a decent entertainer with commercial elements packed in it.

2011 has brought in a lot of excitement. But one of the most exciting and awaited events of this year is the ICC Cricket World Cup … Movies based on the world cup is inevitable … Nikhil Advani combines the excitement of cricket with the melodrama of a family nok-jhok. This is probably a good way for the producers to make an impression in the box office.
Introducing to you Patiala House as a joint Sikh family, consisting of sons, daughters, ghar jamais and cousins, homing various talents. Unfortunately, none of them could live their dreams, reason being the bigoted and adamant Rishi Kapoor.
Times change, people also change but Gurtej Singh Khalon aka Bauji (Rishi Kapoor)wasn’t made out of the changing material ..The movie is about Bauji developing hatred against the goras after a horrid incident of his mentor (Prem Chopra) getting killed under a racist attack … This triggered a sense of deep pride and Bauji started fighting for the cause of Indians residing in Southall, finally making it an Indian friendly country.
Pargat Singh Khalon aka Gattu (Akshay Kumar), then a kid, knew only one way and that was his Baujiway. Puppet like, he follows his Bauji’s orders instead of following his heart- being a pace bowler for the England Cricket team. Gattu, suppressing his desires, is content taking care of his Bauji’s provisional stores. The younger generation of Patiala House, holds him responsible for their individual sacrifices.
Anushka Sharma aka Simran, a chirpy and energetic young girl, along with her brother Zee, wittness Gattu losing himself and with the combined effort of the entire Patiala House, gets him to join the England Cricket Team, against his Bauji’s wishes.
Patiala House, in every possible way tries hiding the truth from Bauji until the cover is blown by Gattu’s brother. This news didn’t go well with Bauji which in turn led to him disowning Gattu. Soon the father realizes that his son was at such a stage where the entire British nation is dependent on him for their victory.
Nikhil did a pretty impressive job on the direction front. The film consisted of various emotions in the right proportion. The Cricket cast was very real with Andrew Symonds, Herschelle Gibbs, Kieron Pollard and the legend Nasir Hussain making special appearances. The cricket scenes wasn’t as thrilling as Laagan or Iqbal, but it did serve the purpose. Manan Sagar’s editing was good but could have been better. Shankar-Ehsan-Loy’s music was apt for the film, Akshay Kumar was very convincing as a cricketer, Anushka Sharma, a natural actor that she is, did a brilliant job, not to forget the flawless acting of Rishi Kapoor and Dimple Kapadia combined.
The film is over all an eye watering yet fun-filled family drama.
Janta janarthan ka kya grade hai????

Jai Bolo Telangana Movie Review — Jai Bolo Telangana Review — Jai Bolo Telangana, The movie on Telangana issue. Jai Bolo Telangana is purely based on the emotions of people who are seeking separate Telangana state.
Cast: Jagapati Babu, Sandeep, Smriti Irani

Music: Chakri
Lyrics: Gaddar, KCR
Director & Producer : N.Shankar
Story: Bandagi Gopanna (Jagapathi Babu) family is involved in Telangana movement from decades together. His father and grandfather dies fighting for Telangana. Gopanna too dies for the same cause. His wife (Smruthi Irani) leads a life by serving people in Telangana. However, his son Varshith (Sandeep) doesn’t take Telangana movement seriously and says he wants to have a peaceful life. He falls in love with Sahaja (Meera Nandan) and she too loves him. Varshith comes to know the problems that his villagers and other Telangana people have been facing and joins the ongoing Telangana movement. This step affects his love story as Sahaja family gets her engaged to an Andhra political leader.
Review: Jai Bolo Telangana focuses mainly on the issues that happened during December 2009. The film’s sole purpose seems like it is made only to show that Samaikyandhra (United Andhra) movement is instigated by few politicians and industrialists who were against Telangana. Director N. Shankar stressed that Telangana movement is a ‘Pavithra Yuddham’.
First Talk : Would like to re-quote “The writer/director doesn’t have the film making capability to handle an issue of such magnitude”. A film that in no way contributed to the issue at hand nor to the betterment of the quality of films in any department.
